Wiggins to front team SKY for Tour of California

The tour of California starts in a few days, and the organisers have just released the provisional start list. A huge array of names are on there, including Sir Bradley Wiggins and the chiselled whippet himself Mark Cavendish.

The tour of Cali is a 8 stage race in America. It features a 20km TT, some gruelling climbs and some serious stages for the sprinters! Last year the high temperature proved too much for some riders who had to be physically helped across the finish on at least one stage!

We hear that Bradley Wiggins is heading out to America after decent performances in the Paris-Roubaix and the Giro del Trentino to front Team Sky and hopefully lead them to victory!

Alongside Team Sky all the usual favourites will be there, and packing some serious competition. All this combined should make for an exciting tour!

This is the first time Bradley has returned to California since 2008, Wiggins said: “I’m really looking forward to riding the Tour of California. It’s an important event for the team and we want to put in a good performance in front of the American fans and our co-owners 21st Century Fox…

…Riding in California is definitely something different and a nice alternative to the traditional racing programme in Europe. There are a lot of passionate cycling fans in the States and this is one of the only chances we get to ride in front of them, on their roads. We’re all looking forward to it.”

The tour can be caught on Sun 11th May at 11pm (BST) on Eurosport. We will be watching, will you?
