Team Sky have confirmed that, following on from his crash during stage four of the Tour de Suisse, Sir Bradley Wiggins has pulled out of the event.
The crash happened just 28km from the finish line in Ossingen when he was brought down by a rider from CCC Polstat, leaving Wiggo with cuts and bruises which worsened overnight. Steve Baynes, Team Sky’s doctor, assessed last night and again this morning and confirmed his injuries are restricting movement on the bike and causing him discomfort.
Wiggo says “The plan is to get home today, have 24 hours off the bike and then I’ll be good to go again and finalise my preparations for Wales next week.”
Hopefully his recovery and preparation goes well and we get to see him ride the British National Time Trial Championships in Monmouthshire on Thursday 26 June.
